Talking about formal education in photography, there is no
particular requirement of the same as I have already said in my previous post:
Saying cheese as career option. However it is always useful to have basic
education in place. It is worth undertaking a few basic photography courses or
workshops locally during school and colleges to have hands on feeling about the
work. If you find it interesting you can give a thought considering it as a
career option.
At the advanced levels, you will learn more about the
science behind photography. It would include knowing about and types of camera,
lenses, shutter and its speed, importance of light and its degree of
illumination, colour tones, props, angle and exposure, films, types of films
and their development and many more dynamics of a shot. A photographer has to
visualise the communication expected and with blend of his creative and
technical skills reproduce the same, which actually enhances (best or worst, as
wanted) the subject.
Just think about the huge bill-boards of Tag-heuer or Louis
Vuitton or Discovery channel which grabs our attention is due the photography.
And the photographers behind these photos earn big money. There are many more
types of such photographers which are discussed below in the table.
In my next discussion I will talk about the training in
photography and some the best institutions to get yourself trained at.
